​Yemisi Ilesanmi is the Author of the book 'Freedom to Love For All: Homosexuality is Not Un-African'​.
​
​She is an experienced trade union organiser, advocate, human right activist, blogger and a passionate poet.
 
She is also a frontline human right advocate; she campaigns, writes and speaks on a range of issues including workers rights, gender and sexuality issues.

She is the founder and coordinator of the campaign group 'Nigerian LGBTIs in Diaspora against Anti Same-Sex Laws'.

Activism 
​
  • ​Organised peaceful rallies in London and New York to protest Nigeria's Anti Same Sex Marriage Prohibition bill.
 
  • Partnered with International dept. of Trade Union Congress (TUC) in March 2005 to promote ‘Make Poverty History’ campaign, GCAP, International Women’s Day and ‘Commission for Africa Report’ in the United Kingdom.
​
  • As gender officer of Nigeria labour congress , she was an active advocate for the development and adoption of the NLC gender policy and inauguration of the NLC National Women Commission.
​
  •  On invitation of International Commission for Labour Rights (ICLR), she was part of a team of trade union lawyers that visited North Carolina in 2005 to embark on a public campaign and lobby for the rights of public employees in North Carolina and Virginia.
